Tarun Chetna

Community Radio Station

Tarun Chetna is going to set up a Community Radio Station earliest in its project office Patti, for which the organization has obtained all the necessary licenses from the Ministry of Information & Broadcast. This radio station “Radio Pratapgarh” will provide a platform for local voices, promote community engagement and address the informational needs of the community.

Community radio means radio broadcast with the objective of serving the community in the area of National Health Programmes, social development programmes, coupled with some entertainment programme to make the broadcast interesting by involving members of the community. It offers an unique advantage of receiving transmission by low cost, battery operated portable transistors/ Radio sets. The Community listeners would mean people who live in the coverage zone of the community radio Station, i.e. Tarun Chetna. This station will cover about 15 K.M. radius.

This Community Radio Station is a vibrant platform dedicated to amplifying the voices of our local community, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose. Through diverse programming that includes local news, cultural showcases, educational content, and interactive talk shows, we strive to inform, entertain, and empower our listeners.

Radio Pratapgarh serves as a vital conduit for community engagement, providing a space where residents can share their stories, access valuable resources, and participate in meaningful dialogues. At Tarun Chetna, we believe in the power of community radio to inspire positive change and strengthen the bonds that connect us all.

CHILDLINE: Empowering Children for their Care & Protection

Our current project, CHILDLINE, addresses child rights and safety with several key objectives. We provide immediate assistance to children in crisis situations, raising awareness for them to dial 1098. We offer long-term support for children’s well-being and protection, advocate for children’s rights and systemic change, and set specific, measurable objectives for each goal. Dedicated to offering 24/7 helpline services for children in distress, we collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations. Our trained volunteers and staff are equipped to handle various types of emergencies, ensuring comprehensive support for every child in need.

Holistic Development of Children in Safe, Secure and Unprejudiced Environment

This project by TSC aims at the holistic development of 498 Dalit, Muslim, and most backward children aged 6-14 years in Bahuta village, Patti block, Pratapgarh district. We focus on creating a safe and secure environment for these children, addressing critical issues such as child trafficking, child labor, child marriage, school dropouts, missing children, malnutrition, and menstrual health during migration. By tackling these challenges, we strive to ensure that every child has the opportunity to grow and thrive in an unprejudiced environment.

Pre School Nutrition And Education Center

Tarun Chetna’s ongoing project, the Pre-School Nutrition and Education Center, aims to provide daily education and nutrition to malnourished children aged 6 months to 5 years in the villages of Northern India. We are setting up dedicated spaces to run the program six days a week. When accommodating all children at once is not feasible, they are divided into batches: under 3 years and above 3 years. To address their nutritional needs, fresh milk is distributed among the children.

We conduct meetings with parents before the project begins to ensure community engagement and understanding, encouraging daily participation. Emphasizing hygiene and cleanliness, we educate children on its importance. Supported by the JDF team, the project also provides clothes and shoes to the children and ration kits to their families. Access to learning and education is integrated, with volunteers teaching basic alphabets and providing educational resources to cater to their educational needs.

Strengthening Civil Society Organization Toward Fostering Women Empowerment

This project focuses on empowering women by addressing issues such as gender discrimination, violence against women, orthodox traditions, and excessive family workloads. We aim to eradicate these challenges and promote gender equality.

We support women’s agricultural ventures and raise awareness about government schemes to enhance their livelihoods. Specifically, we assist with goat rearing, flour milling, beekeeping, vermicomposting, fishery, and vegetable nurseries. Through these initiatives, we strive to create sustainable income opportunities for women, fostering economic independence and community development.
