Tarun Chetna
Founded in 1993, Tarun Chetna, a voluntary humanitarian organization, has been operating in rural Uttar Pradesh with a dedication to developing the living standard of communities, focusing on transforming the lives of the poorest communities.
Especially Muslims, Scheduled Castes (SC), and other most backward communities. Formed by a passionate group of youth, our representation includes Muslims, backward communities, and women.
Our core ideology is rooted in Gandhian philosophy, believing that holistic change is possible through the active participation of women and youth.

Child Care & Protection
Child Care & Protection is a core intervention area at Tarun Chetna. We firmly believe that children are meant to learn, not earn or be exploited. And they are the future of our nation. Regarding this, we promote child rights through various programs.

Livelihood
In our operational area, socially excluded groups, particularly Muslims and SC communities, lack access to livelihood opportunities and financial support systems. Women in these communities face even harsher economic exploitation.

Awards
Tarun Chetna received eNGO challenge award under the category of ‘Governance and Livelihood’ by Digital Empowerment Foundation-New Delhi on dated 24 October 2016 at Suraj Kund Mela Ground Gurugram. We increased the crop productivity by 20-25% eliminating the outdated traditional agriculture practices adopted by the farmers. The E-NGO Challenge under the umbrella of Digital Empowerment Foundation’s eNGO Programme was put in to conception with an objective to recognize and facilitate the grassroots organizations doing exceptional work using Digital Tools.
Tarun Chetna received 19th Annual Polestar Award challenge award under the category of “Livelihood” by Polestar Foundation Chennai with the presence of chief guest Mr. Azim Premji, Chairman, Wipro Limited on dated 27 October 2017 at The Leela Palace Chennai for their best social impact in communities. The PoleStar Award jury is an independent panel comprising respected, distinguished citizens representing various walks of society.
The member of Tarun Chetna Ms. Munni Begam received CII Foundation Woman Exemplar Awards 2018 recognizing women across India as agents of social change. The award was conferred on 8th April 2018 in New Delhi. The winners demonstrate vision, resilience and leadership and are role models for generations to come.
Tarun Chetna received Tobacco Free India Grant Award for their best social impact by Salaam Mumbai Foundation with the presence of chief guest Ms. Supriya Sule on dated 30 June 2018 at the Y. V. Chouhan auditorium, Mumbai. The grant supports organizations doing excellent work in social change and tobacco control initiatives.

Nature of Intervention
We directly engage with the community by building strong relationships, raising awareness, educating people, providing training and organizing communities for social development.
Relationship
We establish relationships with communities as educators and facilitators, empowering backward groups through active participation, leadership and awareness building.
Target Group
Our target groups include women and children from socially excluded families within Dalit, Muslim and other backward communities living in rural and underserved areas.

We believe in active community participation where people become part of decision making, social awareness and sustainable development initiatives for long term change.

Message From The President
As the President of Tarun Chetna, I am proud to hold the position of Director and feel pleased to take forward it with a strong belief in the power of community-driven change.
Since our inception, we have strived to uplift the most marginalized sections of society, focusing on women, children, and backward communities. Our initiatives span health, education, economic empowerment, and social justice, guided by the principles of equality and inclusivity.
Our work is deeply rooted in Gandhian philosophy, emphasizing self-reliance and active participation. We have made significant strides in areas like women and child development, community mobilization, and local governance, thanks to the unwavering support of our dedicated team and partners.
As we move forward, we remain committed to our mission of creating a society free from exploitation, where everyone has access to a better quality of life.
