Tarun Chetna

Founded in 1993, Tarun Chetna, a voluntary humanitarian organization, has been operating in rural Uttar Pradesh with a dedication to developing the living standard of communities, focusing on transforming the lives of the poorest communities, especially Muslims, Scheduled Castes (SC), and other most backward communities. Formed by a passionate group of youth, our representation includes Muslims, backward communities, and women. From inception, we have worked closely with the CHAMAR and PASSI communities under the SC category, who are among the most socially and economically disadvantaged. Among Muslims, our efforts target the JULAHA, MANIHAR, JOGI & FAKIR, BEHNA, and RANE communities, all economically marginalized and often trapped in cycles of debt due to exploitative moneylenders. Our core ideology is rooted in Gandhian philosophy, believing that holistic change is possible through the active participation of women and youth.

Our Activities

Child Care & Protection

Child Care & Protection is a core intervention area at Tarun Chetna. We firmly believe that children are meant to learn, not earn or be exploited. And they are the future of our nation. Regarding this, we promote child rights through various programs.

Women Empowerment

Empowered women are the driving force behind an empowered nation. To achieve holistic development, women must be at the forefront. We enhance women’s participation in PRIs, health, literacy, and combating domestic violence.

Livelihood

In our operational area, socially excluded groups, particularly Muslims and SC communities, lack access to government livelihood opportunities like PMRY and NREGA, and bank loans. Women in these communities face even harsher economic exploitation.

Education

Education is a fundamental right of every child as it is the ultimate way to illuminate their lives. However, access to education remains unreached, particularly for girls and children from marginalized backgrounds.

To achieve this vision, our mission is to organize and empower different communities, enabling them to become independent and self-reliant, and to lead holistic lives. This mission aligns with the ideal of establishing Gram Swarajya, encapsulated in the phrase “स्वावलंबी और आत्मनिर्भर समाज की स्थापना करना.”

Derived from the Sanskrit slogan “सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः, सर्वे सन्तु निरामयाः,” the vision of our organization is to create a society free from exploitation, where everyone has access to better health, education, and a high quality of life.

Our value is reflected in respecting each other at every level of society, honoring feelings of equality, and ensuring availability and accessibility for all. We strive to create an inclusive environment where everyone is treated with dignity and fairness.
